Northern Westchester Hospital Encourages Organ Donor EnrollmentSeptember 13, 2017
Save Lives through Organ and Tissue Donation.
With more than half a million new enrollees in 2016, New York has become one of the fastest-growing organ donation states in the country, but unfortunately only 30% of New Yorkers over age 18 have enrolled as organ donors – well-below the national average of 52%. With nearly 10,000 people in the greater New York metropolitan area alone waiting for a transplant, the need for registered donors is great.
One organ donor can save up to eight lives and improve the lives of up to 50 people through tissue donation.
