We are parents of Wendy T., who was a patient in your hospital from Feburary 24 - March 17th. For the first 14 days she was in your ICU unit and was cared for by Dr. Turken and Dr. Weinberg. They are amazing doctors; they stayed with our daughter day in and day out trying to find a cure for her. They brought in all of the right specialists and each one of them was amazing. With all the doctors, nurses and respiratory staff; they were able to pull her through and get her back on her feet again. She was on her death bed when we had arrived from being on vacation in San Juan and were told that there was very little hope she would survive.
But with the excellent care of your doctors she did pull through and beat this infection that she was fighting. Dr. Turken, Dr. Weinberd, and Dr. Peter Welch, Dr. Robert Pilchik, Dr. Catanese, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Osleelo, Dr. Lester, Dr. Coffino, Dr. Abdo, your emergancy room doctors, nurses, and your ICU nurses Judy, Coleen, Linda, Sandy, Maureen, Antoineete, Norma, Jennifer, Lisa, Bridget, Bernice, and I am sure I have forgotten some, but each one was amazing and so caring and understanding. Your respiratory staff, Beth, Patricia, Danny, and Rich did a wonderful job keeping her breathing. When she left the ICU unit they moved her to the 7th floor and Dr. Julia Rakhovich and the nurses on that floor took such good care of her, Ann Marie, Anna, Gigi, Kristi, Morgan, Jojo each one of them were amazing. I know I have forgotten some of their names, but please be sure to tell each one of them that we send our love and thank you to each.
Your Caregivers Center run by Jerri Rosenfeld was amazing. They were always there for us. We had some very hard times but we could always count on them to get us though. Your quite rooms were so peaceful and helped us take some time for ourselves. Jerri and her staff of caregivers was so caring, loving, helpful, wonderful and understanding; that it made it easier for us to get through this terrible time of our lives with our daughter. I would also like to thank Eileen for all her help, caring and prayers with our daughter Wendy. Please be sure to thank each of them for us.
Wendy left your hospital on March 17th and was moved to Burke Rehab center and is improving each day. All of the doctors and nurses are amazed how far she has come. I plan on taking her home on Thursday April 1. We will meet with your outpatient therapy center on Friday to set up her outpatient schedule. She is looking forward to continuing improving. I am sure when she visits your staff they will be amazed at how far she has come along.
Thank you again for having such a wonderful group of people working at your hospital. You can be proud of each one of them.
