My mother, Eleanor Jacob, was recently admitted to your hospital and received care in the emergency room, on the telemetry unit, and finally the hospice room. My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for the excellent care she received while at your hospital. The PCAs, RNs, and Respiratory Therapists were not the only professional in manner, but compassionate as well. We have never experienced such a caring staff in a hospital setting. Each PCA and RN not only gave my mother excellent care, but went out of their way to make our family feel cared also.
We are grateful for the food cart that was sent up to the family who were visiting and staying overnight. My mother took advantage of the services that were offered by the hospital, such as meditation through yoga, riki, and a musician who helped with relaxation at a very stressful time. This service was a Godsend. The staff that provided seating and those that cleaned her room were kind and helpful.
The hospice suited enabled family to take care of my mother in her last days in a more comfortable and home-like setting. Her grandchildren put up Christmas decorations, and for her it was the next best thing to being in her own home. My mother often commented on how nice the setting was, and how wonderful the staff were that treated her. Finally, my mother's death was handled in a dignified and compassionate way by your staff. We feel very fortunate to have gone through this very difficult time at Northern Westchester Hospital.
