On Tuesday February 12th Dr. Kurt Voellmicke performed ankle replacement surgery on my right ankle at Northern Westchester Hospital. I just wanted to write to you to comment on my experience at the hospital before and after the surgery. All in all it was very good considering the unpleasantness of having this procedure done.
I had to write to tell you that everyone and everyone who assisted from the ambulatory receptionist, to the ambulatory nurse, to the anesthesiologists, Dr. Sasso and Dr. Arlia, to the OR nurses who assisted the surgery to the PACU nurses who cared for me post surgery and to the nurses who cared for me while I recovered overnight in room 462 of the pediatric unit were fantastic. I offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to them for their professionalism, courtesy and care. I wanted you to know what i great hospital you have because of these individuals who dedicate themselves to their patients like this on a daily basis while maintaining a cheerful demeanor, instilling confidence in their abilities to their patients and making each patient feel comfortable. I also thanks you since, without your leadership, my experience could have totally been different.
With that being said I would like you to especially recognize nurse Reichwein and her professionalism, patient care, knowledge and courtesy. I ask this because I believe she should be acknowledged for her attentive services dedicated to my comfort and pain management during the night of my stay after the surgery. I must tell you, honestly, that this was not at all hat I had expected. After experiencing other surgeries, in other hospitals, I had resigned myself to experiencing excruciating pain and discomfort throughout the night. Nurse Reichman, to the contrary, kept me free of pain and kept me comfortable the entire night. I believe this is extraordinary and a testimonial to your hospital that other surgical patients can read before surgery to help reduce their anxiety. in closing I thank you and all your staff involved for such a pleasant experience in your hospital. Not that I am looking forward to doing it again soon but at least I know if I should need surgery in the fture that NWHC would probably be my choice.
