Our baby girl was born recently and from the moment we arrived at the hospital to the moment we left we felt very well cared for by so many fantastic nurses. In particular there were a few nurses that stand out in my mind as going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.
A couple hours into labor Patty DiSanzo came into our room and took on the role of coaching me through my contractions. Her patience and determination to keep me focused throughout the rest of my labor helped me all the way up until our baby girl was in my arms. Without her coaching I don't think I would have had such a smooth labor (and such a short time pushing!).
Over the next two days I needed a good deal of assistance with learning how to nurse my baby. Two lactation consultants stand out in my mind as having a great deal of patience and knowledge when it came to helping us breastfeed. Kim and Laura were quick to respond whenever I buzzed for help during feeding times. They offered many different positions that I could try, as well as strategies when it became clear that breastfeeding was going to be an ongoing challenge for us. I recently even came back for an appointment with Kim to try one last effort using a supplemental feeder to teach my baby that the breast is a place she can count on for milk.
... I am very grateful for all the assistance that was offered at the hospital and I wanted to be sure to pass on how I feel about my family's experience!
