For over 5 months I have made daily visits to the cancer center at NWHCC. I was a victim of esophageal cancer, and as treatment proceeded, I met some wonderful people at the cancer center. In radiation there was Nicole, Mary, and Dennis who cheerfully and aptly performed their tasks. In chemo there was Jessie and Hazel who were so thoughtful and kind during those four hour sessions. but the ones who encouraged me the most, who tried to get me to eat when I thought my throat was on fire, was Louise Palma and Alison Ferguson. Louise even made me soup at home and brought it in. They really lifted my spirits during this troubling time with the extreme care they showed. On days when I felt I had a burning hole in my chest, they hydrated me and encouraged me to go on. Overall, Dr. Tinger was there with his encouragement and expertise. The care at NWH was superb, the people outstanding - especially Louise and Alison - and I am grateful to have been under their care.
