    Emergency Department Opens New Imaging Suite

    Phase II of the Mary and David Boies Emergency Department is complete.  NWH unveils the latest addition to state-of-the-art emergency care with the opening of the new Imaging Suite

    ER patients will have advanced imaging available to them right in the Emergency Dept, eliminating the need to be tranported down to Radiology.

    Northern Westchester Hospital has installed the very latest in CT and Radiography (X-Ray) technology as part of Phase II of the Mary & David Boies Emergency Department.

    Two Carestream wireless DR (Direct Radiography, filmless) panels are integrated in both a Quantum Radiography suite and a GE Portable X-Ray unit, allowing for a seamless transition between in-room and portable exams.

    To complete the Emergency Department’s imaging suite, NWH has installed the GE HD750 - Dual Energy CT Scanning system.  In addition to delivering the lowest radiation dose available in the market, the dual-energy capability enables clinicians to differentiate between hard and soft plaque (in arteries, a leading cause of stroke and heart attack), determine the composition of kidney stones, and to eliminate the artifacts caused by implanted hardware (screws, wires, stents, prosthesis).
