A Visit to the Emergency Department
Nobody plans on winding up in the emergency department when they get out of bed in the morning, unless, of course, they work there. So for most who wind up at Northern Westchester Hosptial's new Mary and David Boies Emergency Department, it has not been a good day. With this in mind, the new center is designed not only to provide top-notch medical care but also to make patients and their families feel calmer and more relaxed as they go through the system. Most importantly, patients see a doctor within 30 minutes of entering the department, even at the busiest times.
The first phase of the new emergency department opened in March. Phase two, the imaging facility, is poised to open momentarily. Deceptively quiet because of its organization, patients who come under their own steam are greeted by a spacious, light-filled waiting room with a concierge desk. There is a pediatric waiting area as well, with child-friendly, colorful decor and games.
