There is an outpatient speech therapy program located at Northern Westchester Hospital’s new ambulatory center at Chappaqua Crossing.  Patients will be seen on Mondays and Wednesdays.

 

We serve adults with aphasia, dysarthria, verbal apraxia, cognitive-linguistic disorder, voice disorder and dysphagia.

 

We evaluate and provide treatment for people who have difficulty communicating their ideas, understanding what people say, reading, writing, speaking clearly, producing a clear voice, concentrating, remembering, reasoning and swallowing.

 

These disorders can result from a stroke, brain injury, brain surgery, head and neck cancer, head and neck surgery, or Parkinson’s disease.  There are other neurological impairments, illnesses, and injuries that can also cause these impairments.

 

We treat severe, moderate, and mild disorders. We work to both improve skills and compensate for impairments.

 

We are pleased to welcome Rachel Coleman, MS, CCC-SLP to our team. She received her master’s degree in from Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professions. Over the years she has worked in a variety of settings including private clinics, inpatient rehabilitation programs, and outpatient rehabilitation. Her most recent position was at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in their outpatient rehabilitation program. Rachel is able to provide services in Spanish. She also has specialty certifications for the treatment of voice disorders and for the treatment of speech/voice disorders related to Parkinson’s disease.

 

The modified barium swallow studies will continue to be completed by the inpatient speech-language pathologist, Margie Anik, MS, CCC-SLP at the main hospital.
