With great pleasure, we announced that NWH was celebrating 100 years.

We marked this milestone—by reflecting on the dramatic changes that have transpired since 1916
when our doors opened on Stewart Place in Mount Kisco with 15 beds. Enjoy our hospital centennial celebration
with us. We are delighted to share with you the growth and improvements to our facility, advancements in technology
and the care that we provide, and NWH’s impact on the lives of those within our community.

Mrs. Kilborne 1945 In 1945, Mrs. R. Stewart Kilborne became one of the first women elected to Northern Westchester Hospital’s Board of Trustees.
Joel Seligman Joel Seligman, President & CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital since 2001.
East Maine & Moore 1925 A new and expanded facility at Moore and E. Main Street in 1925 brings the Hospital’s capacity to 50 beds, and makes room for the new Laboratory and Radiology departments.
Food is Care In 2012, the NWH Food is Care program allows patients to order quality, healthy meals and snacks any time.
The Wallace Pavilion In 1973, the Wallace Pavilion opened thanks to a generous donation from the founders of the Readers Digest Association, Lila & Dewitt Wallace. Ahead of its time, it offered all private rooms and decentralized nursing stations.
X-Ray machine 1920s In 1922, NWH Treasurer, Hiram E. Manville donated an X- ray machine just a few short years after it was first manufactured. By 1923, X-rays became a vital factor in all hospital work.
Bedside Tablets In 2015, bedside tablets are placed in all patient rooms throughout NWH to provide patients access to all their medication information, medical team and multiple entertainment options.
Duffy & Wade 1986 President & CEO, Peter Wade with Chairman of the Board, Frank Duffy, who began sweeping the floors at NWH at age 14 in 1944.
Nurse on a horse In 1910, the distances were great when one had to travel with horse and carriage. There were no autos and patients were put on a mattress and placed in the back of a wagon.
Emergency Department Each year, 29,000 patients visit the
Mary & David Boies Emergency
Department, built in 2011, with
distinct treatment areas for Adults,
Pediatric and Behavioral Health
patients, and a Fast Track area with
little to no wait time.
Lena C. Elmendorf Lena C. Elmendorf, first Superintendent of NWH cares for a patient, one of 664 patients in 1920.
New Operating Rooms in 2016 In 2016, NWH unveils 6 new operating rooms and 14 new post-operative recovery bays with new technology and modernized rooms to accommodate our leading edge technology.
The Gamma Knife The Gamma Knife is the gold standard in radiosurgery. This remarkable technology is one of the safest options for patients in need.
X-Ray and a doctor 1942 State –of-the-art X-ray equipment is added with increasing demands in patient care.
The Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center The Cancer Treatment and Wellness center opened in 2004 to provide a patient-centered, state-of-the-art healing environment close to home.
Louise Hunt Lab Technician, Louise Hunt, in 1926. The NWH Laboratory opened under the direction of a part-time pathologist in 1925 at the original Moore site property.

    Rick Stafford, MD, Chief of Neonatology and his skilled team of neonatologists and NICU nurses of NWH’s Level III Neonatology Intensive Care Unit team cordially invite back the families whose children were under their care over the past 18 years to an afternoon of family fun, entertainment and food at the Grand Prix, Mount Kisco. 10AM – 1PM.
